UPDATE: Power Back on in Mount Tabor

Powerful winds helped knock out power in sections of the Parsippany neighborhood.

A JCP&L spokesperson says power is back on in Mount Tabor after a brief outage this afternoon.

At about 3 p.m., areas near Simpson Avenue suffered a power outage as the result of Monday afternoon's gusting winds.

According to Parsippany Police, the blowing wind reportedly broke off a tree branch, which fell right by the United Methodist Church at Mount Tabor and came in contact with the main power line.

Police said one emergency case was reported: An emergency generator was brought in for a resident on Carriage House Road, a patient who is in need of a respirator and oxygen machine, according to department spokesperson Ptlm. Earl Kinsey.

Though police said the power company estimated a restoration time of between one and two hours, JCP&L spokesperson Maria Sessa said power was on again very quickly—before 4 p.m.
