Route 10 Truck Fire Ruled Accidental

Firefighters quell Wednesday blaze.

Mount Tabor volunteer firefighters are ruling a Wednesday truck fire as accidental, citing vehicle failure as the cause of the blaze.

Firefighters were called to Route 10 West and Powdermill Road at 12:37 p.m. Wednesday after a van towing a trailer burst into flames.

By the time firefighters arrived, the entire van was engulfed in flames, particularly the engine and driver bays, Fire Department officials said.

“The van was a total loss but the trailer was undamaged,” officials said. “Cans of gasoline were contained on the work trailer and in the van but were consistent with the business use of the vehicle.”

The cause of the fire remains unknown but appears accidental in nature, saying it was “likely some failure of the vehicle,” they added.
