Cedar Knolls Fire Not Suspicious, Prosecutor Says

Morris Township and Morris Plains fire departments among those that responded Friday morning.

An early-morning fire that tore through a Cedar Knolls home early Friday morning does not appear suspicious, according to a preliminary investigation, the Morris County Prosecutor's Office said.

The cause of the blaze remains under investigation, the prosecutor's office said.

The Morris Township, Morris Plains, Cedar Knolls and Whippany fire departments responded to the fire shortly before 5:30 a.m., the prosecutor's office said.

The fire caused "significant damage" to the Mountain Avenue home, the prosecutor's office said.

The fire is being investigated by the Morris County Prosecutor's Office Arson Unit, Hanover Township Police Department, Morris County Sheriff's Office Criminal Investigations Section and the Cedar Knolls Fire Department, the prosecutor's office said.
