Heavy Delays, Detours for Rt. 80 Ramp Closure to Begin Friday

Heavily-traveled Parsippany roadways near business complex will be impacted, police say.

The onramp to Rt. 80 east from Rt. 202 (Littleton Road) in Parsippany is being completely replaced, and the project is expected to take between six and 12 weeks.

That project is scheduled to begin Friday, March 28, causing heavy delays and major detours for motorists in the area.

The purpose of the closure is the construction of an entirely new on ramp to the interstate highway. Because of this, there will be no direct access to Rt. 80 from Rt. 202.

The ramp is located at the intersection of Frontage Road and Marmora Road. Frontage Road will remain open to local traffic, but very heavy delays are expected on Rt. 202 between Rt. 10, Parsippany Boulevard, and Cherry Hill Road between Rt. 46 and Rt. 202.

Parsippany Police said the best route to access Rt. 80 in either direction would be from Rt. 287. Motorists traveling to and from the Mack-Cali campus located near Rt. 202 – Sylvan Way, Campus Drive, Century Drive, Hilton Court, Dryden Way, and Entin Road – should travel on Dryden Way to Rt. 10 East to Rt. 287 north to access Rt. 80 in either direction.

The timetable of six to 12 weeks on the closure is weather permitting.
