Heroin Charge for Man Stopped on 46, Cops Say

Illinois resident pulled over after stopping his vehicle in middle of highway intersection, police said.

An Illinois man who stopped his vehicle in the middle of a Route 46 intersection early Saturday morning was found in possession of heroin, Parsippany Police said.

Steve Norbury, 46, was charged with driving under the influence, possession of two small bags of heroin and possession of several hypodermic needles, according to a police statement.

Patrolman Earl Kinsey, a spokesman for the police department, said Officer Jason Lubeck conducted a motor vehicle stop on Route 46 eastbound near the South Beverwyck Park and Ride at about 4:15 a.m.

According to Kinsey, the vehicle had driven through a red traffic signal and instead came to a stop in the middle of the intersection at Route 46 and South Beverwyck Road. When the light turned green, Kinsey said the vehicle remained in place.

After a brief investigation, Lubeck arrested Norbury, who also was issued summonses for careless driving and having an expired registration, Kinsey said.
