Police: Cash, Jewelry Stolen from Dogwood Lane Home; Door Smashed

Parsippany Police ask anyone with information to contact PPD headquarters.

Parsippany Police are investigating a burglary of a Dogwood Lane residence the department says took place last Friday evening.

Police responded to an activated burglary alarm at the house just after 9 p.m. and found a smashed glass door in the rear of the building, authorities said.

Sgt. Paul Schulze and Officer James Schicke searched the home in hopes of finding a perpetrator, but no one was present, according to police.

At the same time, police set up a perimeter around the area, getting an assist from the Morris County Sheriff’s Department K-9 Unit. The police dog was able to track the scent of an individual from the back yard of the home to Woodcrest Road, but there, officials say the scent was lost, most likely due to the perpetrator entering a vehicle.

Meanwhile, police said officers inside the home found that the master bedroom and closet had been ransacked.

The homeowner reportedly told police that some jewelry and approx. $5,000 in cash was missing from the bedroom.

The incident is currently under investigation. Anyone with information regarding the crime should call the Parsippany Police Department at 973-263-4300.
