Cops: Door Smashed, Jewelry and Cash Taken

Parsippany Police and a county K-9 unit were unsuccessful in search for intruder.

A sliding glass door was smashed and cash and jewelry were stolen from a Dogwood Lane home last Friday night, said Thursday.

The home's burglary alarm was activated, but when Sgt. Paul Schulze and Officer James Schicke arrived at the scene at about 9 p.m., there was no one inside the residence, police said.

Police established a perimeter around the area with assistance from the Morris County Sheriff’s Department K-9 Unit. The police dog was able to track the scent of an individual through the backyard of the Dogwood Lane home to Woodcrest Road, but then lost the scent, police said. The intruder likely entered a vehicle at that location, police said.
