Human Remains Identified as Missing Teen

Prosecutor's office says they were of Irvington girl who has been missing since 2008.

The human remains have been identified as a missing Irvington teen who was last seen four years ago, the Morris County Prosecutor's Office said.

The Morris County Medical Examiner’s Office has identified the remains as Greta Tim, the prosecutor's office said.

Tim was reported missing by her mother on Aug. 1, 2008, according to the prosecutor’s office. She was 14 at the time. Born on Sept. 22, 1993, Tim would have turned 19 this year.

A New Jersey State Police Forensic Anthropologist provided investigators with data related to the possible age, sex and ethnicity of the victim, the prosecutor’s office said.

focusing on prior missing person files commenced as a result of the information provided by the forensic anthropologist, the prosecutor’s office said.

According to the prosecutor’s office, an individual believed to fit the profile was developed from that investigation. Based on that data, a forensic odontologist was utilized to compare the known dental records of the suspected victim against the teeth that were recovered at the scene. The identification of Tim was the outcome of the comparison.

Morris County Prosecutor Robert Bianchi said Tim’s death remains under investigation. No further information was released regarding the probe.

“I am proud of the joint investigation that this office, Parsippany Police, the Morris County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Section, Morris County Medical Examiner’s Office, New Jersey State Police anthropologist and Forensic Ondontologist conducted on this case,” Bianchi said in a release.

“As a result of the cooperative efforts, we were able to quickly identify the victim and we continue to pursue many solid leads with this investigation.”
