Drunken Man, 65, Crashes On Route 46, Police Say

East Windsor man faces DWI charges after rear-ending another vehicle on Route 46 near Vail Road, police said.

A 65-year-old East Windsor man was charged for driving while intoxicated after he rear-ended another car on Sunday around 11 a.m, Parsippany Police said.

Officer Andrew Sadowski got to the area where the crash happened on Route 46 East near Vail Road and found James Dunham had crashed his 2012 Nissan Murano into a 2013 Kia, driven by a 42-year-old Parsippany man accompanied by a young male passenger, police said.

The Kia was stopped at a red light. Dunham said he thought the light was green and didn’t see the stopped Kia, according to a release from Officer Remo D’Alessandro, community relations officer.

Sadowski was alerted that Dunham got out of his car after the crash and discarded a brown paper bag onto the side of the road, police said. Sadowski got the bag and saw it had a Smirnoff vodka that was about 2/3 empty, according to the release.

Dunham said it wasn’t his but after a brief investigation, Dunham was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated, processed at police headquarters and Dunham’s car was impounded at the scene, police said.
