Authorities Still Probing Clues of Human Bones

Skeletal remains were found on Sylvan Way last Thursday.

The Morris County Prosecutor's Office reports that the investigation into the Thursday continues.

Capt. Jeffrey Paul, a spokesman for Prosecutor Robert A. Bianchi, released no other information on the continuing probe.

He did say that, as Bianchi indicated last week, a forensic anthropologist is part of the team working to figure out to whom the remains belong, how this person died and how the bones ended up near Sylvan Way and Entin Road in Parsippany.

It is hoped the scientist, working with the county medical examiner, will be able to determine the dead person's age, ethnicity, gender and race. Ultimately, law enforcement officials want to solve the mystery of who the person was and how he or she died.

The scene of the discovery, the brush line of a wooded area near a string of commercial buildings, is not far from the Entin Road exit of Interstate 287.

The Morris County Prosecutor's Office Major Crime Unit, Morris County Sheriff's Office Criminal Investigations Section,  and the Morris County Medical Examiner are all involved in the probe.

Bianchi, who points to foul play in the incident, has said this is the first case in Morris County in which unidentified human remains have been discovered. The remains were discovered Thursday around noon by a cleaning company employee when he and a co-worker were clearing garbage from the brush line on Sylvan Way near a string of corporate buildings not far from the Entin Road exit of Interstate 287.

Ivan Gaviria, an employee of The Leon's Cleaning and Services, confirmed to Patch that last Thursday, he and a co-worker were clearing the Sylvan Way brush line of trash when he found a garbage bag containing the skeletal remains.
