Irene: Parsippany Evacuations Begin Due to Mirror Pond Flooding

Residents of several streets are leaving their homes for safety's sake.

Parsippany Police and Mayor James Barberio report that flooding has forced some township residents to seek shelter away from home.

A Reverse 9-1-1 alert just issued announced that residents of Lake Parsippany in the area of Jacksonville Drive, Chesterfield Drive, Holmdel Road, Elmwood Drive, Warren Drive and Teaneck Road have just been evacuated to Fire Department District 3 building due to flooding from Mirror Pond.

Officials say residents should evaluate the severity of flooding in and around their homes and consider evacuation if needed.
