UPDATE: JCP&L Says Most Power Restored in Lake Hiawatha After Transformer Fire

No residents were in danger because of the quickly extinguished blaze, according to police.

The electricity is on again for the vast majority of Parsippany residents who lost it after a Monday afternoon transformer fire on Navajo Avenue, according to Jersey Central Power and Light.

said a transformer burst into flames at around 2 p.m. The fire burned itself out before responders from the arrived at the scene, police said.

According to JCP&L, 120 customers lost power as a result and crews had to repair the damaged transformer, which police said is on a utility pole away from neighboring homes.

As of 4:15 p.m., the utility's outage map shows fewer than five residents are still without power.

Police said none of the residents were in any danger.
