UPDATE: JCP&L Completes Par-Troy Power Restoration

An electrical outage was blamed on Thursday night's storm.

The lights are back on for all Parsippany Jersey Central Power and Light customers who experienced a power outage during Thursday night's thunderstorm, according to the utility's online outage map.

The company said a total of 127 Parsippany residents lost electricity.

The Thursday storm blew through Morris County much more quickly than the National Weather Service had predicted. According to NWS, Middlesex, Monmouth, Hunterdon and Somerset took the hit the hardest, experiencing falling trees and downed power lines.

JCP&L reports about 30,000 New Jersey customers lost power Thursday night. The utility said crews are working through the night to restore those still in the dark.

The storm known as Derecho may not be finished with Parsippany. NWS reports that thunderstorms are a threat at least through Tuesday.
