JCP&L Shut Power at FD's Request

There were reportedly 302 customers in Parsippany affected by outage.

Parsippany residents who were without power shortly before and after noon on Tuesday were unable to turn on the lights due to the fire that engulfed a home in Lake Parsippany.

JCP&L Area Manager Roberta Sheridan said the company received a request from the fire department to completely de-energize the area. She said firefighters were concerned that a change in wind direction may have caused the blaze to ignite the primary wires.

She also said that there was a concern that fire ladders were too close to wires. A total of 302 customers were affected.
