Erratic Driver Leads to Ridgewood Avenue Drug Bust, Police Say

Three Parsippany residents face drug charges after they were found with cocaine and marijuana, police said.

A man's poor driving led police to making a drug bust at a Ridgewood Avenue home last week.

Tyler Hagenson, 20, and Shawn Camacho, 19, both of Lake Hiawatha, were arrested and charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance or analog and possession of marijuana. Hagenson was also charged with possession with intent to use, police said.

A Lake Hiawatha teen, 17, was also placed in custody and turned over to his mother when she arrived to the Ridgewood Avenue home. The fourth man, who drove himself and two others to the home, was issued several summonses for his driving violations and released at the scene.

Hagenson and Camacho were released on their own recognizance following the charges.

Officer Michael Sprung saw an older model Honda Civic last Thursday night at about 8:40 p.m. commit several driving violations in the area of upper Lake Shore Drive in Lake Hiawatha, police said.

The officer followed the speeding Civic, which was then parked illegally outside of the Ridgewood Avenue home, according to the release.

Sprung saw three men “jump out of the vehicle and run into the screened front porch of the residence" where there was a fourth man, police said.

As Sprung waited for backup, he saw the men sitting around a table and one of them was “chopping a substance on the table with what appeared to be a credit card and then lean forward and snort the substance," police said.

Police said Sprung also saw two of them light a cigar wrapper after filling it with an unknown substance and then the officer smelled burning marijuana. After Officer Alfred Keiser arrived, they went to the home, “announced their presence” and saw a small clear bag of suspected cocaine and a small pile of suspected marijuana, police said.
