Resident In Jail For Allegedly Taking Family Car Without Permission

The following arrest information was supplied by the Parsippany Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

A 21-year-old Parsippany man faces charges after allegedly using a family member's car without permission, says the Parsippany Police Department.

Police report officers were on the lookout for Shawn Sperling Wednesday night after receiving a report that he allegedly took a family member's car without consent the day before and had not returned.

Officer Jason Ferreira spotted Sperling sitting in the back seat of a parked vehicle in the parking lot of Clearview Cinemas on Wednesday at about 9:49 p.m., said police. Ferreira reportedly ordered Sperling to get out of the vehicle, but the suspect refused. Ultimately, the officer pulled Sperling out and then placed him under arrest, according to police.
