Locker Thefts Continue at LA Fitness

Two wallets were taken out of locked gym lockers from LA Fitness on Route 46 just three days apart, police say.

Parsippany police are looking into thefts at L.A. Fitness on Route 46 in Parsippany after several items went missing from gym lockers, police said.

A woman filed a report at Parsippany police headquarters saying she was at L.A. Fitness on Tuesday, July 30 between 4 and 5:30 p.m. and had her belongings locked in a gym locker.

“When she returned to her locker, her bag which contained her wallet as well as the combination lock were missing,” said Parsippany Community Relations Officer Earl Kinsey. “The wallet contained $10 in cash as well as her identification and personal paperwork.”

A similar incident ocurred on Friday, Aug. 2, when police were called to L.A. Fitness at 9 p.m. to investigate a report of a theft from a gym locker.

“When (the officer) arrived, he spoke with the victim who stated that he arrived at approximately 7 p.m. and placed his belongings in a locker and locked it with a padlock,” said Kinsey. “He returned later to find the lock missing as well as a wallet that was inside the locker.”

The wallet contained credit cards, $70 in cash as well as other personal documents, he said.

Thefts have also ocurred at the fitness center on May 25 and June 12.

In both instances, car keys were removed from unlocked lockers at LA Fitness in Parsippany. Credit cards were taken from two cars and were used at local grocery stores.
