Man Wanted in Multiple States Arrested on Burglary Charges

Gerald Broadwater was being investigated in Morris County.

A wanted fugitive in three states and a suspect in burglaries that reportedly occurred in at least four New Jersey counties, as well as Pennsylvania, has been arrested after being investigated in Morris County.

According to Morris County Prosecutor Robert A. Bianchi, Gerald Broadwater, 61, of Lithonia, Ga., was arrested on burglary charges following an investigation by his office and the Florham Park and Parsippany police departments. The investigation focused on Broadwater’s suspected involvement in commercial burglaries taking place in Morris County. Broadwater was arrested at a Newark residence Thursday morning.

He remains a suspect in burglaries reported in Denville, Roseland, East Hanover, Livingston, Cranbury, Morristown, Bergen County, Somerset County, Union County, Middlesex County and other areas throughout New Jersey, as well as Pennsylvania.

At the time of his arrest, Broadwater was a wanted fugitive with outstanding criminal charges in Georgia, North Carolina and Ohio. 

Broadwater remains in the custody of Morris County law enforcement pending additional charges. He is being held on $100,000 bail with no 10 percent option.

Additional charges are in the process of being evaluated by members of the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office legal team.
