Motor Vehicle Stops Lead to DWI, Drug Arrests

Police also investigating theft from an unsecured locker at LA Fitness.

Three motor vehicle stops this week resulted in two DWI arrests and another man charged with alleged marijuana possession, Parsippany Police said Wednesday.

According to police, Manuel A. Hilario, 18, of Fair Lawn, was charged with possession of less than 50 grams of marijuana and possession of a controlled dangerous substance in a motor vehicle Wednesday shortly after midnight.

Police said Officer Jason Ferreira observed Hilario's vehicle allegedly swerving in and out of the shoulder of Route 46 near New Road. After conducting a motor vehicle stop, Ferreira discovered Hilario to allegedly be in possession of marijuana, police said.

Hilario was transported to the where he was processed before being released, pending a court appearance.

About an hour later, Officer Michael Sprung arrested Radu Ardelean, 29, of Springfield, for driving while intoxicated and unsafe lane change following a motor vehicle stop on Interstate 287 South near Interstate 80 at about 1 a.m., police said.

According to police, Sprung witnessed Ardelean's vehicle swerving into each lane of the highway. After conducting the motor vehicle stop, Sprung determined Ardelean was allegedly under the influence of alcohol, police said.

Ardelean was transported to police headquarters where he was processed before being released, pending a court appearance.

Early Tuesday morning, Officer Ronald Carrozzino responded to a citizen's report of an alleged erratic driver on Route 10 West near Route 53, police said.

Carrozzino identified the vehicle and conducted a stop on Route 10 West near Powder Mill Road at about 1:07 a.m., police said.

Carrozzino determined Marco Galvez, 51, of Morristown, was allegedly driving while intoxicated, police said. Galvez was arrested for DWI and careless driving and transported to police headquarters where he was processed and released, pending a court appearance.

Coat stolen from L.A. Fitness Locker

A coat valued at $350 was reported stolen Tuesday morning from an unsecured locker at , police said. According to police, a woman reported placing the coat in the locker at 11 a.m., and returned to find it missing 45 minutes later. The incident is under investigation, police said.
