Motorist Eludes Parsippany Police, Arrested in Fairfield, Cops Say

Parsippany Police say a Newark man was arrested by Fairfield officers after an unsuccessful attempt to elude police that began in this township.

Corey Lewis, 33, was arrested on an eluding charge and received summonses for failure to maintain lane of travel, unsafe lane change, reckless driving, driving while suspended and speeding, according to a police statement.

Officer Matthew LaManna was patrolling Route 46 at about 1:13 a.m. when he saw a 1995 GMC Yukon with Pennsylvania license plates fail to maintain the lane of travel, Sgt. Yvonne Christiano said.

When LaManna tried to pull over the Yukon, Lewis reportedly did not yield but instead took the on-ramp onto Interstate 80 east, the report continued.

Parsippany Police then notified surrounding towns, and Christiano said Fairfield Township Police were able to stop and detain the driver.

Lewis was remanded to the Morris County Correctional Facility in default of $25,000 bail with no 10 percent option.
