Move Cars for Plows or Get Towed, Parsippany Schools Closed Friday

Parsippany Police remind residents to remove vehicles off roadways for plow crews.

The National Weather Service issued a winter storm warning for all of North Jersey from 6 p.m. Thursday to 1 p.m. Friday and predicts 6 to 10 inches in most North Jersey areas and blizzard-like conditions Thursday night into Friday morning with wind gusts up to 35 miles per hour and wind chills as low as 15 degrees below zero.

All Parsippany-Troy Hills schools are closed on Friday due to the weather.

The Parsippany Police Department announced the following reminder on Thursday: "parking vehicles on roadways is prohibited when the roads are snow covered (Parsippany Municipal Ordinance 405-10) to ensure that the salt and plow crews can do their job efficiently. Parked vehicles in violation of this ordinance may be subject to receiving a summons and towed away at the owners expense."

The police department also alerted the community with the following link for power outage information. http://outages.firstenergycorp.com/nj.html To report a power outage, call 1-888-LIGHTSS (1-888-544-4877).

"There are currently no outages currently reported in Parsippany," said the police department.

Also, municipal court was canceled on Thursday.
