A Good Samaritan, whose identity is unknown, came to the rescue to extinguish a kitchen fire at the Knoll Gardens Apartment complex Monday evening, said Wednesday.
According to Patrolman Earl Kinsey, a resident was frying food on the stove and left the room. When the man returned, the stove was engulfed in flames, Kinsey said. The man threw a wet towel on the fire, but that also caught fire, Kinsey said.
The resident evacuated his family and returned to find an unknown man, who removed the screen from a back window, extinguishing the fire before leaving the apartment, Kinsey said.
