NJ Com: Edison's First Indian-American Officer Dies, Started in Parsippany PD

Milan Patel joined the Edison force in 2004. Before that, he worked in Parsippany.

Edison's first Indian-American officer, who started his law enforcement career in Parsippany, died after a brief illness, according to a Tuesday story on NJ.com.

Milan Patel, 40, joined the Edison force in 2004 and was hailed as a groundbreaker in the largely South Asian community. His hiring was lauded by officials as a step toward diversity.

Before working in Edison, was a Parsippany officer for two years.
