NJ.com: At Bail Hearing, Prosecutor Says Man Killed Father Because it Was 'Easier to Get His Keys'

Alleged murderer was found in Parsippany.

Morris County Prosecutor Robert Bianchi asked for the bail to be increased for Brendon Matos at a hearing on Tuesday in Morristown Superior Court, according to a report by NJ.com. According to the report, Judge Thomas Manahan continued Matos’ bail at $1 million, cash only.

Matos, 25, with numerous offenses including first-degree murder, armed robbery, theft and weapons charges after he allegedly shot his father to death and stole $1,000 from him last Thursday.

The NJ.com report also states Bianchi said at the hearing Matos killed his father for drug money "because it was easier to get his keys and get into his safe."

The older Matos was the registered owner of the vehicle.

The suspect was found hiding on Old Dover Road by a Parsippany Police officer early Friday.

Matos is being held at the Morristown Correctional Facility on the $1 million cash bail.
