NJ.com: Randolph Man Allegedly Robbed His Father Before Killing Him

One of the charges facing Brendon Matos, who was found hiding in Parsippany before his arrest, is armed robbery.

Before Brendon Matos of Randolph shot his father to death last Thursday, he stole $1,000 from him. That's according to a police complaint filed in Superior Court in Morristown.

Matos, 25, last week was arrested and charged with numerous offenses including first-degree murder, armed robbery, theft and weapons charges.

The discovery of Matos' car in the brush near Greystone Psychiatric Hospital in Parsippany led officers to his Randolph home, where the  body of Nelson Matos, 56, was found Thursday night.

The older Matos was the registered owner of the vehicle.

The suspect was found hiding on Old Dover Road by a Parsippany Police officer early Friday.

Matos is being held at the Morristown Correctional Facility on $1 million cash bail.
