Pa. Man Killed in I-280 Crash in Parsippany

A driver crashed into a tree and died of his injuries at the hospital.

A Pennsylvania man was killed Saturday morning in a car accident on Intertate 280 westbound in Parsippany, according to the New Jersey State Police.

Jason Gavins, 28, of Dingmans Ferry, Pa., lost control of his car while trying to make a left-hand curve, and crashed into a tree on the side of the road, Sgt. Brian Polite.

The accident occurred at the 1.7 milemarker at about 6:45 a.m.

Polite said Gavins was rushed to Morristown Memorial Hospital by the Parsippany Rescue Squad. He was pronounced dead at the hospital 8:30 a.m.

Gavins was operating his 2000 White Nissan Maxima at the time of the incident, and no other cars were involved, according to Polite.

Polite said the crash is still under investigation, and the cause of the accident is not yet determinned.
