Pair Indicted in 2011 Boonton Murder

N.Y. man, female friend accused of killing his wife in front of 3-year-old son outside Ramadan celebration.

A New York man and a female acquaintance were indicted Thursday for allegedly gunning down the man's wife in front of their 3-year-old son outside a family Ramadan celebration last summer in Boonton.

Kashif Parvaiz, 26, of Brooklyn, N.Y., and Antionette Stephen, 27, of Billerica, Mass., were indicted on charges of first-degree murder, first-degree conspiracy to commit murder, multiple weapons offenses, endangering the welfare of a child and child abuse charges.

The two are , 2011 on Cedar Street in Boonton. Parvaiz, who was shot four times in the incident, had originally told authorities he and his wife were victims of a hate crime. He claimed they were approached by several men who yelled racial slurs before shooting them while they pushed their son in a stroller.

Through phone records, authorities discovered Parvaiz allegedly , the Morris County Prosecutor's Office said.

The investigation also revealed Parvaiz had lied about his education, claiming he had attended Harvard and Columbia.

“This case was extensively investigated with witnesses interviewed and significant evidence gathered in numerous states," Morris County Prosecutor Robert A. Bianchi said in a statement. "We now look forward to presenting our proofs in court and again extend our sympathies to Nazish Noorani’s family for such a tragic and senseless loss."
