Parsippany Man Charged with Assaulting Youth

The following arrest information was supplied by the Parsippany Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

A call regarding an altercation between a man and a minor brought officers to a Gordon Circle home Tuesday afternoon, according to Parsippany police. Upon arriving, Officer Anthony Morelli spoke with a 12-year-old youth, who said a man pulled up in a vehicle and approached the boy and his two of his friends. The child said the man grabbed his arm, told the trio that they were trespassing in his driveway and demanded to know where the kids lived. The man reportedly pushed the 12-year-old into a shrub. The other two children ran to call  the 12-year-old's mother and the police. Ptlm. Earl Kinsey reported that after questioning the people involved, Parsippany resident Dumeshkum Daftary, 38, was arrested and charged with simple assault on a minor. Daftary was released pending a court appearance.
