Parsippany Youth Mentor Admits Sexual Involvement with Teens, Says Prosecutor

Daniel Bell, 53, is a former township worker who volunteered with Prevention Is Key, a county program that fights drugs and violence.

Bail remains at $200,000 for a 53-year-old Parsippany maintenance worker and Morris County youth program mentor who admitted being involved sexually with three teenage boys, the Star-Ledger reported.

At a bail hearing in Morris County Superior Court in Morristown Wednesday, Assistant Prosecutor Meg Rodriguez said Morris County Prevention Is Key volunteer Daniel Bell was arrested last Thursday and made “admissions corroborating what the victims had to say,”  the article said.

Bell is charged with sexual assault, child endangerment and criminal sexual contact in connection with officials' allegations that over a nearly two-year period, he engaged in sexual acts with a 15-year-old boy he was mentoring, along with a 13- and 14-year old brought in, the article said. It is alleged that Bell watched the teens perform sex acts on each other and touched the 14-year-old inappropriately during the winter of 2012-13.

Judge Mary Gibbons Whipple did not alter Bell’s bail, which had been set at $200,000, with no 10 percent option. The man, a former Parsippany-Troy Hills maintenance worker for Parsippany Township and who previously had no criminal record, according to the article, is being held at the Morris County jail.
