Parsippany Police, County Sheriff Investigating Delbrook Road Burglary

The following arrest information was supplied by the Parsippany Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

The Parsippany Police Department and the Morris County Sheriff's Department are investigating a burglary of jewelry and computer items reported at a Delbrook Road residence Wednesday evening.

Police spokesperson Sgt. Yvonne Christiano said the owner of the home in question returned just before 9 p.m. to find the house's bedrooms had been ransacked. Reporting to the scene, officers found that a suspect or suspects entered the building through a basement window.

Police said about 50 jewelry items were reportedly taken from a jewelry box located on top of a bedroom dresser. Also reported missing, according to police, were an Apple Mac book computer and a Kindle.

"Unfortunately, entry was made to a secluded portion of the home," said Christiano, who added that this sort of theft can be avoided. "Parsippany Crime Prevention officers recommend adequate lighting around the home such as sensor lights, and we always discourage homeowners from storing jewelry in a box on a bedroom dresser. When residents are not at home, whether it be an extended trip or simply for the day or evening, try and make your home look occupied, [using] lights on timers, etcetera."

An investigation into the Delbrook Road incident by Parsippany detectives and the Morris County Sheriff’s Department's Criminal Investigative Section is underway, police said.
