Parsippany Police Officers Get Schooled on Stopping Bullying

Local police took part in a symposium addressing harassment, intimidation and bias in schools.

Bullying isn't only a concern of schools, educators, parents and students. It's also an important subject for law enforcement professionals, who are in the business of keeping citizens safe. To that end, members of the Parsippany Police Department took part Wednesday in a statewide symposium  at the National Conference Center in East Windsor on harassment, intimidation and bias in schools and New Jersey's new Anti-bullying Bill of Rights, which is one of the toughest laws targeting bullying in the nation. Among the subjects explored: how law enforcement fits into strategies planned for combatting bullying in schools; ways to properly investigate, document and report incidents; the specific issues in handling harassment of LGBT students. Training was provided by the New Jersey Association of School Resource Officers.
