Parsippany Police Report Late-Night Driving Arrests

The following arrest information was supplied by the Parsippany Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

The reports a random license plate check led to the Oct. 24 arrest of an Irvington man wanted on two separate warrants from different jurisdictions.

According to the PPD, Dion Rivers, 44, was nabbed by Officer Paul Levi, who was patrolling the area of New Road just after midnight. Seeing a 2001 Mazda, Levi ran a random license plate inquiry and discovered that the vehicle’s registration was expired and suspended, police said.

Levi stopped the car, said department spokesperson Sgt. Yvonne Christiano, and found that Rivers was driving with a suspended license and that he had two outstanding warrants: one out of Essex County for civil contempt and a $500 traffic warrant out of Irvington.

After being put under arrest, Rivers ultiimately received summonses for having a suspended registration, driving while suspended and for not having insurance, police said.

Christiano said Rivers was taken to the Morris County Jail to await pickup by the Essex County Sheriff’s Office.

In another case, 56-year-old Staten Island man found asleep in his SUV on Oct. 30 faces charges including driving while intoxicated, according to police.

Sgt. Christiano said Nilo Dumadag was found sleeping behind the wheel of a 1992 Isuzu SUV parked with the engine running on the shoulder at the corner of Littleton Road and Dolly Drive. Officers Michael Sprung and Jason Ferreira made the discovery and woke the driver, said police. 

Christiano said that after investigating the situation, the officers placed Dumadag under arrest for DWI and took him to police headquarters. While there, she added, Dumadag received summonses for the alleged alcohol offense, along with reckless driving and improper parking.

Dumadag was released into the custody of a family member, police said.
