Cops: Drunk Man Gets Into 2 Accidents in 1 Night

The following arrest information was supplied by the Parsippany Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

A Parsippany man allegedly under the influence of alcohol fled the scene of one accident in East Hanover before crashing for a second time early Sunday morning on New Road, Parsippany Police said.

Justin Jakubcik, 39, lost control of his vehicle and struck a median on the New Road bridge over Interstate 280 before coming to rest against the side of the overpass shortly after 2 a.m., Patrolman Earl Kinsey said.

Police discovered that Jakubcik had allegedly struck a parked vehicle earlier that night in East Hanover, Kinsey said.

Jakubcik was charged with DWI and received multiple motor vehicle violations before being released, Kinsey said.

Parsippany Police made another DWI arrest on Monday following a motor vehicle crash in the area of Knoll Road near the intersection of Midvale Avenue shortly before 6:30 p.m.

When Officer Andrew Sadowski arrived at the scene, the second vehicle involved in the collision, described as a red pickup truck, had already left the scene, Kinsey said.

Police found the truck further south on Knoll Road, Kinsey said. The driver, 52-year-old Robert Mainardy, of Lake Hiawatha, was arrested for driving while intoxicated, operating an uninsured vehicle, failing to report an accident and reckless driving.

After receiving medical treatment, Mainardy was released.

John Schultheis, 54, also of Lake Hiawatha, was a passenger in the vehicle. Schultheis was arrested after police learned that he had an arrest warrant issued by the Roxbury Municipal Court in the amount of $683. He was later released pending a court appearance.
