Pedestrian Struck By Vehicle, Trapped Underneath

Police say a 31-year-old Parsippany resident was pulled from beneath a van by an unidentified motorist.

Parsippany Police say they are investigating a Saturday evening incident at the Raceway gas station at 2140 Route 10 west in which a local man was struck by and caught beneath the vehicle he was driving.

Department spokesperson Ptlm. Earl Kinsey reported that a 31-year-old Parsippany resident pulled into the Raceway station just as the van he was driving ran out of gas.

"As he began to attempt to push the vehicle up the incline towards the pumps, the vehicle started to roll backward down the incline," Kinsey said. "The man became caught between the open driver’s side door and the body of the vehicle. As it rolled down the hill into the center lane of Route 10, he was dragged under the vehicle where he became trapped.
