Police Nab Woman Allegedly Driving While Impaired

A 22-year-old Denville woman faces charges after being arrested on suspicion of driving after smoking marijuana, according to .

Department spokesperson Sgt. Yvonne Christiano reports that Officer Jason Ferreira, while patrolling along Cherry Hill Road, saw a tan Toyota traveling at a slow rate of speed on the 50-mph roadway.

The police officer pulled over the car being driven by Siobhan Thompson and said he smelled an odor of suspected raw marijuana. Inside the vehicle, Ferreira reportedly found small plastic bags containing suspected marijuana residue and cigar innards.

Thompson was arrested and transported to PPD headquarters, where police said she was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and issued summonses for failure to maintain lane, DWI, reckless driving and possession of controlled dangerous substances in a motor vehicle.

Thompson was released to the custody of a family member, police said.
