UPDATED: Heavy Rains Close Roads

Last night's precipitation proved too much for some local thoroughfares.

The Parsippany Police Department reports a few streets are shut down, primarily due to flooding caused by overnight rain.

The following streets are now closed as of 3:05 p.m.:

Vail Road at the Montville Bridge
New Road, in both directions
Route 46 west, between North Beverwyck and Baldwin roads—one lane closed due to water main break

The department warns motorists to drive carefully.
