Jorge Garcon fled after being confronted by officers, police say.

A Parsippany man was arrested Monday after allegedly attempting to break into an adult video store.

Jorge Garcon, 42, of Parsippany was arrested and charged with burglary, criminal mischief and resisting arrest after police found him trying to break into Route 46 Video Boutique, said Community Relations Officer Earl Kinsey.

Police arrived at the video store at 2:32 a.m. Monday and found Garcon wedged between a screen door and an entry door attempting to gain entry to the business, said Kinsey.

Police said Garcon was ordered to the ground but instead jumped off the stairs into the parking lot, initiating a foot chase.

Officer Michael Sprung caught up with Garcon, who began to physically resist arrest, even after he was sprayed with pepper spray, said Kinsey.

“Officer Ronald Carrozzino arrived at the location and assisted Officer Sprung with attempting to handcuff Mr. Garcon,” he said. “Officers utilized their pepper spray again, but the suspect continued to resist.”

Officer Jason Ferreira arrived at the location and assisted in getting Garcon into custody. Garcon continued to resist, even after he was placed in handcuffs, said Kinsey.

Police then further examined the door where Garcon was first seen and found the screen to the exterior door had been torn open and the glass on the interior door had been smashed.

Garcon was taken to Parsippany police headquarters where he was processed and turned over to the Morris County Jail in lieu of $5,000 bail with no 10 percent option.
