Police Catch Suspected Teen Burglar in the Act; Two Parsippany Juveniles Face Charges

The following arrest information was supplied by the Parsippany Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Police report that two Parsippany teenagers face charges relating to several burglary incidents after one allegedly was caught in the act on June 10.

According to Ptlm. Earl Kinsey, officers received word of a burglary in progress at a Midvale Avenue residence. Upon arriving, the resident told them that noises were coming from the kitchen. Entering the kitchen, the resident discovered what police describe as a white male in his teens holding a purse. The young man fled the scene through the home's back door.

Police canvassed the neighborhood and eventually found information that led them to the home of a 17-year-old Parsippany resident. There, Ptlm. Kinsey reports, detectives found several stolen iPods, a GPS unit and a purse. Police believe these items are connected to reports of burglarized vehicles in the same area. The items were seized and the teen was charged with burglary, theft and receiving stolen property, according to police.

Ptlm. Kinsey said the investigation also led to the arrest of an alleged accomplice. A 14-year-old Parsippany resident faces charges of conspiracy to commit burglary and receiving stolen property.

Both teens were released into the custody of their guardians. Police say additional charges are expected as the case evolves.
