Traffic Stop Reveals Outstanding Warrant

Police said the man was wanted in Essex County for a non-violent alleged offense.

A Lake Hiawatha-area traffic stop Monday night led to an outstanding warrant arrest, according to the .

Police said Officer Ross Cooper was driving his patrol car along North Beverwyck Road just before 10:30 p.m. when he saw the driver of a 2005 Honda allegedly abruptly pull out in front of him.

The officer pulled the driver over and conducted a check on his registration, police said. The check revealed that the registered owner, 24 year-old Melvin Hubbard of Denville, was wanted by the Essex County Sheriff’s Office, police said.

The Essex County Sheriff's Office said Hubbard was wanted for allegedly using false documents to obtain a driver's license.

Police said Hubbard was transported to the Morris County Correctional Facility.
