Police Report 3 Home Burglaries in 1 Day

The PPD asks the public to get in contact with any information they may have regarding any of the incidents.

The Parsippany Police Department is investigating three residential burglaries that took place within seven hours Tuesday.

Police say there is no solid information to link them together at this time, but evidence is still being analyzed.

Police said the first incident was reported via an activated burglar alarm at a home on Twin Oaks Road at about 1:15 p.m. Officer Anthony Morelli went to the scene and found the front door of the house had been kicked in, according to police. Entering the home, the officer reportedly did not find anyone inside, but he did discover that the master bedroom of the home had been ransacked, police said.

It was not immediately known if any items had been taken from the residence.

The second reported burglary involved a Park Road residence. Police said Deputy Chief Paul Philipps and Officer Patrick McCarthy went to the home after receiving a call from two children who had arrived home and found the front door ajar just before 3:30 p.m.

"The quick-thinking children went to a neighbor’s house and had them call the police," police spokesman Ptlm. Earl Kinsey said in a statement. "The officers checked the home for intruders with negative results."

As with the first case, police reported that the master bedroom in the Park Road home was ransacked.

Authorities believe entry was gained into the home by cutting a screen on a front window, opening the window and crawling through. It is believed that the front door was used to exit the home, police said.

Kinsey said numerous pieces of jewelry were reported stolen. The total value of the stolen jewelry was unknown when the report was filed.

Police received another activated burglar alarm call shortly before 8 p.m., from a home on Brighton Terrace. Officers Thomas Armenti and Jeffery Magahan responded and reported finding a rear sliding glass door at the address was smashed in, police said.

There was no one inside the home, police said. Though the master bedroom had not been ransacked, according to police, the officers thought items there appeared to be out of place. Police said the resident confirmed this.

About $10,000 in jewelry was reported missing, including a wedding ring and band, police said.

Investigations of all three burglaries are underway, police said. Anyone with information should contact Parsippany Police at 973-263-4300.
