Police Report 5 Outstanding Warrant Arrests in 4 Days

The following arrest information was supplied by the Parsippany Police Department. None of these cases indicate convictions.

The reports that a number of people were discovered with outstanding warrants against them in the past week.

Police said that Officer Richard Howell was patrolling Old Bloomfield Avenue Friday at about 8:23 p.m., he pulled over a Nissan Altima going faster than the posted speed limit of 30 mph.

Howell discovered that Lake Hiawatha resident Suriya Qasemi, 24, had a suspended driver’s license and an active Parsippany warrant in the amount of $250, police said.

Qasemi received summonses for careless driving and driving while suspended. After posting bail, she was released, according to authorities.

In a second case, officials said a 25-year-old Parsippany man wanted for numerous alleged offenses in a variety of townships including this one was placed under arrest.

At about 9:53 a.m., Officers Matthew LaManna, William Stone and Carlos Silva reportedly responded to a Halsey Road apartment to find Larry Allan Navarette. Navarette, according to police, was known to have warrants totaling $3,170 out of Parsippany, Paterson, Wayne, Bernards Township and Union Township.

Police said the alleged offenses included motor vehicle violations, forgery, theft by unlawful taking, possession or distribution of a hypodermic syringe or needle and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Navarette was arrested and transported to PPD headquarters for processing, according to police.

A random car registration check Sunday afternoon led to a Jersey City woman being cited, officials said.

At about 12:28 p.m., Officer Paul Levi ran a check on a 2000 Audi and reportedly discovered that the car's registered owner, 31-year-old Faten Baghdadi, was driving on an expired license.

Additionally, she had active traffic warrants out of East Hanover and Jersey City totaling $850, police said.

Baghdadi received summonses for having a cracked windshield, suspended driver’s license, failure to notify of address change and failure to exhibit insurance. Police said she was released upon posting bail.

Later that evening, Officer Ross Cooper reportedly pulled over a vehicle after he saw it change directions on Greenbank Road suddenly at about 10:40 p.m.

The officer learned that the vehicle’s passenger, 32-year-old James M. Canning of Lake Hiawatha, had an active $125 warrant from West Orange for driving while intoxicated. 

The man was arrested and released upon posting bail.

The at 3159 Route 46 was the site of another outstanding warrant arrest, police said.

On Monday at about 1:40 a.m., police received a report of suspicious men in the hotel parking lot. 

Officers arrived at the scene and found two people sleeping in a vehicle. Police determined that the vehicle's owner, Daniel Buchanan, had an outstanding $500 traffic warrant out of Lyndhurst.

Buchanan was arrested and then released on his own recognizance on the order of the Lyndhurst Police Department.
