$6,000 Worth of Rare Bills & Coins Stolen From Parsippany Home

Entire safe was stolen while Fairfield Road resident was on vacation.

A Fairfield Road resident returned home from vacation to find that $6,000 worth of rare bills and coins had been stolen from his house, Parsippany police said.

Police were called to the home at 1:09 p.m. July 19 to investigate the burglary.

The money was stored in a safe in the basement of the home. When the resident returned home he found the entire safe was missing.

“The safe contained approximately $3,500 in $2 bills and $2,500 worth of Susan B. Anthony silver dollar coins,” said department spokesperson Patrolman Earl Kinsey.

“The burglary is believed to have occurred between Saturday, July 13 and Friday, July 19,” he added. “There were no signs of forcible entry noted.”

Parsippany-Troy Hills detectives are investigating the incident.
