Police Say Baby Burned in Kitchen Accident

A Mara Road tot came in contact with boiling water.

The reports a 13-month-old child suffered serious burns after an accident at his home Tuesday night.

Officer Ross Cooper responded to a Mara Road residence just after 8 p.m. to investigate a report of a child suffering from burns, police said.

The baby reportedly pulled a pot of boiling water off of a table and was scalded. Police said the child suffered second-degree burns to his face, left arm and back.

The baby was treated on the scene by members of the Rockaway Neck First Aid Squad as well as from paramedics from St. Clare’s Hospital. He was transported to Saint Barnabas Medical Center in Livingston for further treatment and evaluation.
