Man Burglarized Gas Station Post-Sandy, Police Say
$250 in cash, food and cigarettes reportedly taken from a Route 10 Exxon after door was smashed with rock salt bag placed as storm precaution.
Parsippany Police say a Morristown man faces a 3rd degree burglary charge following an early morning Oct. 30 incident at a Route 10 gas station and convenience store.
Malik Kentish, 18, is accused of stealing approximately $250 from a cash register, along with food and cigarettes, from the Exxon on the Run at 2959 Route 10, according to a statement from the department.
Officer Steven Miller was patrolling the area just after 1 a.m. when he reportedly heard an audible alarm from the business, PPD spokesperson Patrolman Earl Kinsey said.

The officer found the front glass door of the station's convenience store had been smashed with a 25-pound bag of rock salt that was placed nearby as a precautionary measure for Hurricane Sandy, Kinsey said.
Parsippany Rescue and Recovery responded and boarded up the broken glass door, the statement said.

An investigation led to Kentish's arrest last Thursday, according to Kinsey, who added that the man was released on his own recognizance pending a court date.
