Rash of Car Burglaries at Dartmouth Village, Oneida Avenue

Wallets and other items stolen.

Police reported five incidents of burglarized vehicles from on Friday and Saturday including two at the Dartmouth Village apartment complex and two on Oneida Avenue.

  • Early Friday morning, the owner of a 1990 Jeep parked at Dartmouth Village reported that a flashlight and $5 was stolen from an unlocked car.
  • A Saturn at Dartmouth Village was ransacked and an iPod Nano, along with sunglasses, accessories and personal identification information. An investigator from the Morris County Criminal investigative section responded to the scene and later that day, a wallet and black bag were discovered in the apartment complex’s common use laundry room. A driver’s license and credit cards were located in the parking lot of a gas station in close proximity
  • On Saturday, a  wallet with ID information and gift cards were stolen from a 2001 Kia parked in the driveway of a Hoffman Avenue, police said. The victim’s driver’s license was later returned by a man who found it in a parking lot on North Beverwyck Road.
  • Also on Saturday, a 2008 Honda on Oneida Avenue was reported burglarized. A pocketknife, sunglasses, a coin purse and an audio cable for an iPod were reported stolen. 
  • That same night an unlocked  Ford Pickup on Oneida Avenue was broken into and pair of binoculars were stolen, along with a flashlight, a tire pressure gauge and $10.

 

Also on Friday, officers responded to the Walgreens pharmacy on Route 46 West when a burglar alarm activated at 4:44 a.m.. A window on the northwest side of the building was  broken, but it didn't appear that anyone had entered the pharmacy, according to police.
