Radio Shack Employee Punches 'Sarcastic' Customer, Police Say

Andre Santiago, 20, of Denville, was charged with assault after allegedly striking a customer in the face.

A Radio Shack employee was arrested Friday after punching a customer in the face for being "sarcastic," Parsippany Police said.

Andre Santiago, 20, of Denville, was charged with assault after leaving a customer of the Route 46 store bloodied, police said.

Sgt. Paul Schulze and officers Peter Rizzolo and Christopher Cifaldi were called to the Parsippany Radio Shack store shortly after 9 p.m. and found a customer “holding a bloody paper towel to his left eye,” according to a release from Chief Paul Philipps.

The customer said Santiago, an employee at the store, punched him and “ran into the back of the store," the report said. Santiago told Rizzolo that the customer "was being sarcastic,” according to the release.

Police said the customer did not seek medical assistance and Rizzolo arrested Santiago for assault and brought him back to police headquarters before he was released pending a court appearance.
