Stay Home, Off Roads So Plows Can Work, Police Say

Freezing roads resulting in disabled vehicles throughout Parsippany.

Road conditions are continuing to worsen as a winter nor'easter makes its way through the region Thursday, and Parsippany police are advising residents to stay home.

In a NIXLE alert sent to the community, Parsippany police told residents that the rain coming down Thursday afternoon was freezing when it reached the roadway, making for hazardous driving conditions.

Department of Public Works crews were plowing and salting the roads, the message said, and asked to "please give them room to work." The majority of calls received by the police department were relating to disabled vehicles on the roads.

Police are advising residents to stay home and off the roadways until the storm is over.
