Burglary Victim's Beau Charged in Crime, Cops Say

Juvenile being housed at the Morris County Youth Detention Center.

Parsippany Police say two men and one juvenile are facing charges following a burglary last Friday evening at a Sweetwood Court home.

Among those arrested in the incident is 18-year-old Raymond Jaquez of Paterson, the boyfriend of one of the residents of the house police say was robbed.

A 17-year-old was detained at the Morris County Youth Detention Center and was charged as a juvenile with burglary, theft of moveable property and conspiracy, according to Christiano. Jaquez faces charges of burglary, theft of moveable property and conspiracy and is being held at the Morris County Correctional Facility in default of $10,000 bail with no 10 percent option, the statement said.

The third man left the scene in an unknown vehicle and police said charges against him are pending.

According to a police statement, officers from Parsippany, Montville and the Morris County Criminal Investigative Section responded to the residence after getting word of a burglary in progress.  A male resident told officers that he returned home, found the front door locked and went to the back door, where he reported hearing footsteps and voices.

Upon spotting the resident,  two men wearing gray hooded sweatshirts left the scene on foot, one fleeing south behind the home and the other running north toward Vail Road, the statement continued.

Meanwhile, a second resident allegedly was inside the home with her boyfriend during the incident and heard her brother outside yelling, “Call the police,” police said.

Department spokeswoman Sgt. Yvonne Christiano said Officer Marcin Czajka located one of the two men on Vail Road at Stafford Road and the victim was able to identify him.

An investigation revealed that the boyfriend of a female resident, allegedly knowing that his two friends planned to burglarize the home, attempted to distract her while they were there, Christiano said, noting that their plans were thwarted when the male resident's arrival interrupted the crime in progress.

Police said items reported stolen from the residence included a flat screen television, a laptop and a Mac Book Pro.
