Police: Alleged Drunk Woman Causes 3-Car Crash

Accident occurred at intersection of Route 46 and Baldwin Road.

A Parsipanny woman was charged with drunk driving after she allegedly ran a red light and hit two other vehicles on Route 46 Tuesday, according to police.

Maria Garcia, 36, was travelling north on Baldwin Road in a Nissan Pathfinder at when her car crossed a double-yellow line and went through a red light at the intersection with Route 46 at about 12:40 p.m., police said.

She struck a Hyundai headed eastbound on Route 46 and continued on, hitting a Nissan Ultima in the westbound lane, police said. There were no injuries, but all cars were inoperable after the crash and had to be towed, police said.

Garcia was carrying several documents of identification that were apparently fraudulent, according to police. She was transported to headquarters where she was charged with DWI, refusal to submit to a breath test, open alcohol container in a motor vehicle and possessing a fictitious government document.

Judge Anthony Frese set bail at $5000  and Garcia was transported to the Morris County Correctional Facility in default of bail.
