Bus Fire Closed I-80 for Several Hours

The blaze was west of exit 42 on the eastbound side.

Amidst the travel problems brought on by the snow storm, a bus fire closed down all lanes on I-80 eastbound in Parsippany late Tuesday afternoon and lasted for a few hours into the early evening before the scene was cleared and all lanes reopened.

The bus fire occurred west of exit 42 – U.S. 202/Littleton Road and traffic was being detoured. Around 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, the State’s Department of Transportation said that only two lanes were closed and there were 15-20 minute delays.

“Fire and emergency response units are dealing with a bus fire on Rt. 80 East Bound in Parsippany. Avoid Rt. 80 if possible,” said the Morris County Office of Emergency Management on its Facebook page around 5 p.m.
